Legends of Hyboria
Between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars.
Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. Proudest of all kingdoms was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.
The Hyborian age are from whence these tales are told. Come and let me tell you of the days of high adventure…
About this campaign
Set in my interpretation of Robert E. Howard’s Hyborian Age, which lies within the Sword & Sorcery genre (a genre which, according to some, was invented by Robert E. Howard). Although this genre certainly has its own set of clichés, it differs from high fantasy in that there is no delicate balance between good and evil, with fair and noble elves in improbable forests valiantly fighting against stupid, ever evil orcs. Rather, it is a grim world of cruel kings, barbarous fighters, beautiful women, and ambitious sorcerers and foul demons lurking in the shadows – all set in a lost and fantastical prehistory of mankind…
